As you get closer to your birth you may be thinking about how you would like to give birth. Even what birth resources you can get your hands on?

You may think, I’ve got this!  Birth is natural right?  Totally!

If you are wanting to put yourself in a space of being informed to have the most positive birth outcome you can then I highly recommend reading some of these resources.  They will help you to create the birth space you want, pick the right birth team and help support your body & mind for birth!

There are many different ways you can learn about birth, you can attend birth classes with independent birth educators worldwide, you can find a birth doula, watch videos, listen to podcasts, read books or studies.

The sky is the limit!

Here a list of 17 amazing birth resources I highly recommend to support you on your journey!

Podcasts – easy listening

Podcasts are great as you can listen to them when you are doing almost absolutely anything.

You can listen while doing house cleaning (makes that a little less boring), driving in your car, on a train or bus, laying down and taking a rest.

Here are some of the top birth podcasts:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter

Books that will excite you!

I love reading books and feeling it in my hand.  Curling up in bed or on the couch – even outside in the sun and listening to the trees russle.  It’s brings so much peace and joy.

Here are some of my favourite birthing books that will really get you ready for a positive birth!

  • Why Induction Matters – Rachel Reed
  • Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering – Sarah Buckley
  • Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth -Ina May Gaskin
  • Hypnobirthing: The Mongan Method: A Natural Approach to a Safe, Easier, More Comfortable Birthing by Marie Mongan
  • Birth Skills- Juju Sundin

Birthing classes are a great way to connect

Birthing classes are a great way to connect with other couples who are expecting as well.  Which means you can build your circle of support before you baby arrives!

If you are used to getting out and about or you really enjoy group learning these will be ideal for you!

  • Hypnobirthing
  • Lamaze
  • She Births

Just check them out and see which one sounds like a right fit for you.  Your hospital may be holding birthing classes – just be mindful that the class may be more geared towards learning about hospital practices and medications rather than how to have a positive birth.

Movies are perfect for those lazy days

I love watching birth movies and documentaries when I’m pregnant, feeling crappy and can’t move much!

Check out some of these – they will help you see birth in a totally different light!

All of these resources are an amazing way to learn about birth.  They will take you on a journey and help you plan for the positive birth that you would like to have.

Open your mind, take it slow and let the information soak into your beautiful growing body mama!

Let me know which one was your favourite?  Maybe you have already started devouring one or 5 of these! I’d love to hear about your experience.

P.S – Don’t forget to check out a Positive Birth Movement Meeting!
